Date of Wedding: 19th July 2014 Marriage Location: St John the Baptist Church, The Hayes, Broadwindsor, Somerset. DT8 3QF Reception: Haselbury Mill, Haselbury Plucknett, Nr. Crewekerne, Somerset
Nick and Emma invited approximately 80 of their close friends and family to witness their marriage at St John the Baptist Church, The Hayes, Broadwindsor, Somerset. The church has probably been at its current location in one form or another since the Anglo Saxon era. It has been extended and restored over the centuries to provide Broadwindsor with the current beautiful building.
Much of the week prior to the wedding had been spent looking skywards and daring the weather to deliver the ‘torrential’ rain that had been forecast. The overcast morning and the thunderstorm that took place during the service did not bode well for the day. However, by the time the service had finished the rain had stopped and low and behold the sun broke through and provided us with glorious weather for the rest of the day – phew!!!
The Dress code for the wedding was traditional and the couple chose lilac for their colour theme.
Emma asked her friends Jo and Charlotte to be her bridesmaid and the three girls looked stunning.
The bridesmaids wore lilac, A line, strapless, full length dress with a sweatheart neckline.
Emma’s wore a white full length A-line halter-neck dress. The dress itself was russed with a puddle train the dress – it was finished with beads, crystals and sequins. Emma looked gorgeous in her dress and so she should as well – I don’t think I have witnessed such a magnificent effort to get a bride into her dress.
Nick asked his brother Chris to be his bestman and his other brother Steve to be his Usher. Nick’s second Usher was Nick’s friend Andrew (Bob)
The Groom and groomsmen were dressed in formal black morning suits with tails and ivory waistcoats. The groomsmen wore lilac cravats to match the colour theme for the day whilst the groom wore white accessories.
Haselbury is in full bloom at the moment and as always looks beautiful and makes the most fabulous wedding venue.
We had a fabulous day at Haselbury – both families for brilliant – Di and I had a wonderful day – the bridal party and guests were great fun making us both feel very welcome all day. I am looking forward to producing a fantastic set of wedding photographs for you to remember this ‘lovely’ day.
